Greet the Year of the Tiger with a Rawr
Makansutra Asian Food Village celebrates Kung Hei Fat Choi
8th to 19th February 2010
Start the year with positivity to attract good fortune, prosperity and luck! Join Makansutra Asian Food Village located inside the Manila Ocean Park complex as it marks its first ever Chinese New Year festivity.
On 8th to 19th February 2010, Makansutra Asian Food Village welcomes its doors for celebration. Chinese and Filipinos alike would always traditionally remember this festive event every year. For 2010, revel a different kind of experience as families, friends and food enthusiasts go truly Asian this year.
Makansutra captures the classic yet elite style of hawker foods. Foodies will surely have a great time savouring and digesting all Asian authentic cuisine as they feel the ambience of eastern culture and the spicy aroma of the place without going far from Metro Manila.
Enjoy the company of 10 or 12 with some delectable and enticing dishes like fishlips with three varieties of meat soup, Singapore-style stir fried prawn with oat cereal, braised abalone with mushrooms, steamed lapu-lapu with soy sauce, liempo with mustard, crab bihon, long life noodles, yueshang, and a mouth-watering fruit platter. Get even luckier with one box of sticky tikoy and a bag of kiat-kiat. All these at PHP 16,500 nett.
Be entertained even more as Makansutra’s kitchen experts fancy the guests with a live cooking show of the Prosperity Raw Fish, a chance to pick your fortune popping out from a cookie, and receive good karma from the God of Prosperity!

If you're all tired of having the same thing everyday - burgers, spag, or plain-rice and- dish meal, Makansutra is one place to go. It's unique ambience overlooking Manila Bay and the delicious aroma of spices would really make you salivate for Asian food. My top favorites are Roti Prata, Char Kway Teo and hakaw. Customers can even watch how their orders are being prepared right in front of them. What's even more unique with the experience is the added attraction of the food museum showcasing different displays about Asian food culture. The experience really is just so amazing.
Main problem and difficulty of opening a foreign food joint here in the philippines hinge on a simple fact: Chefs must be trained well and on the food they serve long before they start to serve the public.
Notation here about how Makansutra failed to satisfy a customer is highlighted in his blog.....all-Pinoy chef crew. None of the 38 pinoy crew "had ever been to nor eaten anything from Singapore and Malaysia.

Having said that, the Makansutra Asian Food Village is worth a try because 7 out of my Top 10 Makan Favorites are available and the hawker-style food court concept is something unique in Manila.
