Whenever I come to dine in this restaurant, I only order one dish. And that is the Herbed Chicken Steak. For some reason or another, I just fell in love with it. :)
As compared to Sizzling Pepper Lunch, this resto is much more affordable. Hence, the difference in the prices were to equate to the serving sizes of the dishes offered by both restaurants.
As to the service, I haven't encountered any problems with this aspect yet whenever I get the chance to dine here. It has always been a pleasant visit each and every time.
For the decorations and overall layout of the restaurant, they made good use of the limited space they have. The tables and chairs subtly shows off modern-japanese concept. The ordering system is quite different from the traditional practice of placing an order in restos. Here, you get to tick mark the stuffs you want to eat, and after you're all done, you just call the server and give them the pen and paper. Also in this restaurant, they use a different kind of method to communicate your concerns to the servers. With the use of an innovative style of flipping the sign in your table to MOOOVE, servers will come to your table to address your concerns, after which is flipped again to STOP when you've already communicated to the server.
Overall, you should definitely try to dine here. Hence, if you are really quite famished, a single order here won't be good enough.
I've been wanting to try this new way of eating eversince a number sizzling steak resto started. Now, when this branch of Sizzlin' Pepper Steak opened at Glorietta 5 it was a chance to give it a shot, and recently I did.
The smell of their food is soo aromatic, made my tummy grumble to dig in. I ordered their Pork Sizzling, just to test how it works. As usual with all the sizzles smoke was present, good thing they have overhead vents per table so the smoke won't stick to you. The food was 'ok' nothing really surprising, aside from the presentation. The sauce is something to learn about since they have several choices, though we were served with their teriyaki sauce. I may try their food next time, but maybe not at the Glorietta5 branch. Very slow service. It took 3 follow-ups to the waiter to remind our order (by the way this time its for a burger order). We just had to get our bill and cancel the order.
My little daughter and I have dined at this branch only twice so far--once last July and again yesterday-- but I think we'll be coming back for more, especially since there are lots of new items on their menu (e.g., Fish n Chips, Chicken Caesar Salad, Ribeye Steak, pasta dishes, etc.). There's also a new way of ordering wherein the customer will be the one to fill in the order form. At The Sizzlin' Pepper Steak, the food gets cooked on a sizzling hot plate right in front of you. In fact, you have to turn over the meat after a few minutes so it cooks evenly. We've tried the Pepper Rice Meals (first the beef, then the salmon) and we're very, very satisfied. What I love most is how flavorful the sauce is (by the way, you can now choose from among many different sauces). It definitely has that taste that will make you crave it every now and then, if not often.
The food was really good, we've tasted almost all of their pepper rice from pork to chicken to beef and they were all good! It's also fun being able to cook your own food from the super hot plate which I heard is supposed to stay hot for about 20 minutes.
The Beef Pepper Rice was served in a hot sizzling plate inside a carboard box. A rather cool food presentation for me. And boy was it smokin' hot. The beef was slightly raw which you can cook well done on the plate by turning the strips over. The rice for me was delectable. The beef strips just right to the bite. This dish is really a must when you go here.
