11/20/2009 we had dinner at Sushiya in Megamall. It's too bad they don't have their old place anymore outside of the building which is now being occupied by Seattle's Best. Reason why it's too bad is cause, they offered free parking for dining customers. And after eating, you can simply do your chores at the supermarket which was already very near. They've now moved to the lower ground floor building B. Right across Chris sports and right beside Shakey's.

We like Sushiya for it's cheap prices. The kakiagedon that lives up to it's name that it's supposed to be vegetable tempura, so for the other establishments, stop adding the squid to it. It's supposed to be a vegetable tempura. So thank goodness for Sushiya. They're also good with being flexible to customer's likes. They used to not have any other tempura but ebi (shrimp) or Kakiage (vegetables). But now, they've got a long list of food that you can tempura, like the kani, and shiitake mushrooms. Sushiya is also innovative in a way that you can mix and match your food and get a great discount with their teishoku meals. One that I've almost always patronized. You get rice and iced tea with an additional of only Php 45. They've also got bento boxes. Where this one includes dessert and appetizer. So for the ladies with smaller appetites due to their diets. Teishoku's good enough. For the men who have bigger appetites, go with bento. It's got miso soup, appetizer, sushi, and even dessert.

They also introduced the Kani Wasabi Salad in which is my new thing now with Suhiya. It's got the crispness and freshness of the normal kani salad filled with lettuce, cucumber, mangoes, and kani. PLUS the wasabi kick as they've mixed in wasabi to the mayonnaise normally used for the salad. A normal kani salad for me includes: kani, cucumber, carrots, lettuce, tobiko and mayo. I love the kani salad Rai Rai Ken offers with tamago and mangoes. But for Sushiya, they've only included mangoes, no tamago, and very little lettuce, and no carrots either. But the nice fresh cucumber always makes me forget of the rest of the ingredients. But beware for those of you who are not used to the flavors of wasabi, it may seem like there's not much dressing when this salad is served to you. Don't be too hasty to ask for more dressing. Instead, just mix your salad and have a taste first. Because you'll soon realize why there wasn't much dressing to it. =) In fact in my case last night, I had already started to complain to myself I can't see the dressing, but as soon as I mixed it up and had a bite, ooohhh the wasabi flavor was all over my mouth with the freshness of the cucumbers. I had to ask for additional mayo just to tame my mouth from burning up! But I like the kick to it. =) you should try it.

They also offer a promo for the Kani Wasabi Salad. It's normal price is Php 95, but you can pay Php 100 from 3pm - 6pm and it'll include an order of either tofu tempura, or agedashi tofu and iced tea. Not bad eh? It's actually cheap!

Last night's experience was pretty good. Nothing to complain about at all. But I've had bad experiences with Sushiya too. But it both happened at the Robinson's Galleria branch. The first offense was when we asked for the bill, and it took forever. What pissed me off was to find out that it was because one of the waiters was tying up the phone lines reason why they couldn't swipe my credit card. I saw a sign on their wall with a cellphone number to call or text for feedback. And that's exactly what I did. It was quick to respond to my text, and after a few minutes, the lady waiter was off the phone and the supervisor was apologizing. Good job on the feedback number. The second time the same branch blotched in my books was when I ordered the Kani Wasabi Salad for the first time with my free agedashi tofu and Iced tea. The plastic wrapper for the Kani was still in my salad. Not only that, the kani tempura Andrew ordered wasn't cooked well either. The batter was still POWDERY. I texted the number again, but this time, no reply whatsoever.

Anyway, I guess it just tells me one thing. Never to eat at Sushiya in Galleria. I'll be more than happy to eat at all their other branches for as long as they don't do me wrong. =)

We'll be back for more of Sushiya, I'm sure of it.

I really like their Chicken Teriyaki, as well as their ebi tempura. The chicken has just the right amount of syrup. The dish also has a side salad of cabbage and cucumber with a thousand island dressing. I also keep coming back for their ebi tempura.

Love their Torikatsudon. I can eat this everyday. The crunchy chicken strips drowned in the tasty sauce is perfect and just melts in your mouth...
