I went expecting REAL Texas BBQ. That means BEEF BRISKET smoked low and slow for hours, over Mesquite, Oak or Hickory wood! Granted, Pork, Chicken and Sausages are also served in Texas, but Beef Brisket is what made Texas BBQ famous! To not have it on the menu and call yourself a Texas BBQ joint is just wrong in my opinion. So we sit down and read the menu, it CLEARLY states Soda Pop is refillable! It lists all the sodas available and I chose a Pepsi Max. The waiter brings a Can of Pepsi Max to the table, and I ask, this is refillable? He say NO, just the iced tea is. Well, why don't you FIX YOUR MENUS if you aren't going to honor what it says?? We ordered an entree that had a HALF SLAB of baby back ribs. We got a total of 4 BONES! Where I come from, Chicago, a Full Slab of Baby Backs has 12 to 14 bones, depending on how the Butcher trims them, so at a minimum I expected 6 bones. The 4 ribs were average, tender enough and tasted fine. The sides we had were delicious, Mac and Cheese and Creamed Spinach and Corn.
Neither the Chicken or the Ribs had a particularly smokey flavor, nor did they exhibit the nice Pink coloration of the exterior 1/4 inch of the meat that occurs when it is smoked low and slow for several hours in a smoker. The Sausages were unremarkable except to say I found large chunks of white fat inside one of them, not very appetizing! In summary, if you've been to Texas and are hoping for REAL Texas BBQ, you will most likely be disappointed, and if you happen to be really thirsty, don't rely on what the Menu says, order Iced Tea ONLY!

As my husband and I are big steak and ribs fans, we decided to try Ray and Pete's for his birthday dinner. We had their Two Pair - half slab of baby back ribs, 2 Texas sausages, 2 sides and 2 servings of their black bean soup - all for a measly Php 488+.

The ribs weren't as "fall-off-the-bone" tender as Racks' but were very tasty and the sauce alone hit home run for us.The sausages were delicious - they reminded me of the Polish sausages my mom used to serve us for breakfast. We had the chorizo rice and the red slaw for our sides and the platter of ribs came with fried banana chips. The only thing I'd say that we didn't like as much was their black bean soup - it was bland and the fried tortilla strips in it didn't help either. My husband jokingly called it the "Pik-nik soup". While my husband just downed water, I had their house iced tea (Php 95+ and it's refillable!) which was mango-flavored and very refreshing.

The restaurant's interiors had a Western theme going on, which was fun, but the actual dining area is small. The tables were closely spaced together and we felt cramped while eating. The servers were friendly and attentive - they were quick to refill my drink when my glass became half-empty!

Overall, we're quite satisfied with Ray and Pete's Texas Smoke 'Em. Their portions are good for sharing and are priced just right. And their sauce, oh that savory sauce, will keep you coming back for more.

as BBQ afficionados hubby and I gladly anticipated the opening of this new resto. the day finally arrived and we both had the ribs. the meat was unbelievably tough, over cooked and dry to the bone. sauces were sweetish, non descript. in a vain attempt to assuage his hunger my hubby ordered the Texas Toast (which is usually crusty bread wiht cheese and butter gratinated) when it arrived it was a piece of sliced bread...not toasted, nothing else. when questioned the servers were utterly clueless. terrible place! it will be closed in 6 months i say...

I loved the buffalo wings. All else was kinda forgettable for me from last time. That's why we'll try it again. :)

I just want to say thanks to the manager who helped me find my friends when I was lost! He suddenly dissapeared! I didn't have the chance to say thanks! Thanks for being so nice! :)

The Baby Back Ribs has that sweet, spicy, tangy, smoky flavor to it. Eventhough the meat does not slide off the bones, it was tender. The Texas Sausages were very good. I liked the smaller sausage because it was a bit hotter that the other. It also tasted somewhat close to my favorite Hungarian Sausage- spicy and meaty. As for the bigger sausage, it was fragrant and less spicy but still appetizing.

Chicken Mole is surprisingly good! Not at all sickening. It’s spicy, savory and smoky like a very woodsy chicken barbecue. The chocolate is just an aftertaste that lends itself very well to the chicken. Served with black bean rice, this dish would definitely be worth having again! What is it about chocolate that makes everything taste good? Even with chicken. The Aztec people revered chocolate as a gift from the gods. They got that right. Chicken Mole is divine.

Get em at “Ray & Pete's Texas Smoke'Em" at Greenbelt 3. 255 Pesos per serving.

The place reminds me of Lone Star BBQ. Lone Star Steakhouse, and the like because of the homey atmosphere. The servers are pleasant looking (and efficient) and the place is clean and not intimidating. I guess you can wear your comfortable clothes here and enjoy the finger licking goodness of the savory dishes. They have refillable drinks (the iced tea is 95 Pesos ++), side bets (55 Pesos++), good desserts (from 95-135 Pesos ++), beer, mixed drinks, and set meals. (you can have good food from 245-535 Pesos ++) Major credit cards are accepted. Trivia: According to "Our Awesome Planet"-Early last year, Chef Peter Ayson went on a barbecue tour, all of 3000 miles from Houston, small barbecue towns of Texas, to Dallas, to Cajun country of Louisiana, the Carolinas, Atlanta, small towns of Alabama, and even the new barbecue joints of New York City. After careful research/feasibility studies this resto was "born". We love the barbecued lamb. The meat is really juicy that we even placed a second order. I guess even we just keep on ordering it, we wouldn't get tired of it. BTW, I'm not particularly fond of mint jelly whenever I eat lamb elsewhere, but I love theirs! We also tried the baked macaroni, the chorizo rice and the sloppy Joe. Their iced tea is also one of the best in town. The others seemed to enjoy the different barbecues and we will try them the next time. I'm sure we'll go back there or maybe I'll bring my friends there too! =)
