I went expecting REAL Texas BBQ. That means BEEF BRISKET smoked low and slow for hours, over Mesquite, Oak or Hickory wood! Granted, Pork, Chicken and Sausages are also served in Texas, but Beef Brisket is what made Texas BBQ famous! To not have it on the menu and call yourself a Texas BBQ joint is just wrong in my opinion. So we sit down and read the menu, it CLEARLY states Soda Pop is refillable! It lists all the sodas available and I chose a Pepsi Max. The waiter brings a Can of Pepsi Max to the table, and I ask, this is refillable? He say NO, just the iced tea is. Well, why don't you FIX YOUR MENUS if you aren't going to honor what it says?? We ordered an entree that had a HALF SLAB of baby back ribs. We got a total of 4 BONES! Where I come from, Chicago, a Full Slab of Baby Backs has 12 to 14 bones, depending on how the Butcher trims them, so at a minimum I expected 6 bones. The 4 ribs were average, tender enough and tasted fine. The sides we had were delicious, Mac and Cheese and Creamed Spinach and Corn.
Neither the Chicken or the Ribs had a particularly smokey flavor, nor did they exhibit the nice Pink coloration of the exterior 1/4 inch of the meat that occurs when it is smoked low and slow for several hours in a smoker. The Sausages were unremarkable except to say I found large chunks of white fat inside one of them, not very appetizing! In summary, if you've been to Texas and are hoping for REAL Texas BBQ, you will most likely be disappointed, and if you happen to be really thirsty, don't rely on what the Menu says, order Iced Tea ONLY!

As my husband and I are big steak and ribs fans, we decided to try Ray and Pete's for his birthday dinner. We had their Two Pair - half slab of baby back ribs, 2 Texas sausages, 2 sides and 2 servings of their black bean soup - all for a measly Php 488+.
The ribs weren't as "fall-off-the-bone" tender as Racks' but were very tasty and the sauce alone hit home run for us.The sausages were delicious - they reminded me of the Polish sausages my mom used to serve us for breakfast. We had the chorizo rice and the red slaw for our sides and the platter of ribs came with fried banana chips. The only thing I'd say that we didn't like as much was their black bean soup - it was bland and the fried tortilla strips in it didn't help either. My husband jokingly called it the "Pik-nik soup". While my husband just downed water, I had their house iced tea (Php 95+ and it's refillable!) which was mango-flavored and very refreshing.
The restaurant's interiors had a Western theme going on, which was fun, but the actual dining area is small. The tables were closely spaced together and we felt cramped while eating. The servers were friendly and attentive - they were quick to refill my drink when my glass became half-empty!
Overall, we're quite satisfied with Ray and Pete's Texas Smoke 'Em. Their portions are good for sharing and are priced just right. And their sauce, oh that savory sauce, will keep you coming back for more.

as BBQ afficionados hubby and I gladly anticipated the opening of this new resto. the day finally arrived and we both had the ribs. the meat was unbelievably tough, over cooked and dry to the bone. sauces were sweetish, non descript. in a vain attempt to assuage his hunger my hubby ordered the Texas Toast (which is usually crusty bread wiht cheese and butter gratinated) when it arrived it was a piece of sliced bread...not toasted, nothing else. when questioned the servers were utterly clueless. terrible place! it will be closed in 6 months i say...
